Course overview

This course comprises three parts:

  1. Path analysis: You will learn how to estimate complex path models of observed variables (e.g., linked linear regressions) as structural equation models.
  2. Factor analysis: You will learn different ways of defining and estimating latent (unobserved) constructs.
  3. Full structural equation modeling: You will combine the first two topics to estimate path models describing the associations among latent constructs.

Your mastery of these themes will be evaluated with a two data analysis assignments.

  1. The first assignment covers path analysis.
    • You will complete this assignment in a group of three students.
    • This assignment will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
  2. The second assignment covers latent variable modeling.
    • This is an individual assignment.
    • Your course grade will be based on your second assignment grade.
